OK I'm Really Going to Stick to It This TIme

Even though I just completed my 8th half marathon yesterday, I have never really stuck to a training plan.  My plan was always just to run when I could and finish the race. Well I have made the decision to actually stick to a training plan for our next race which will be the Missoula Marathon (we will both be doing the half). I have definitely noticed that I have hit a plateau in my time and I know I can do better.  From here on out I am going to make running a priority (like the hubs does) and strive harder for my goals.  It feels great to cross the finish line but it feels even better to beat your goals.

I came across this quote from General Patton (who was actually a 1912 Olympian in the Pentathlon):
"Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."

Maybe track your progress on some sort of public forum or here on the ol' blog =) I find when someone else is holding me accountable, I'm way more apt to stick to something lol

  2. I have always loved that quote... and I literetly say to myself when run " my mind controls my body... my mind controls my body"
